THE ASIA ERP SOFTWARE MARKET
Clearly the biggest change in the Asia ERP software market is the rapid adoption of software as a service (SaaS) ERP applications. According to the most recent research report by Springboard Research, the SaaS market in the Asia Pacific region excluding Japan in 2007 was an estimated US$274 million. The report also forecasts a compounded annual growth rate of 59 percent for the period of 2007 through 2011, ultimately reaching an predicted US$1.8 billion measure by 2011.
The report also revealed that in terms of industry acceptance, the technology, manufacturing and financial services industries have emerged as the leading vertical markets in the APAC region to adopt SaaS business software applications. Australia continues to be the largest and the most mature SaaS business software market in the region, however, SaaS adoption is highest in India and China as software manufacturers have implemented more concerted efforts in these markets.
The report notes that Salesforce.com continues to dominate the SaaS CRM software market in the region, while other pure play SaaS providers such as NetSuite, RightNow, Aplicor and BizAutomation.com show some measurable market penetration and progress.
